Salon - Crypto’s Philosophical Underground - Barcelona 2023
The venue of ETH Barcelona had a boxing ring, so we rounded up a few philosophers in attendance and held an emergent salon in the boxing ring. The conversation started with a few philosophers and other participants sharing what philosophical reaons brought us all to get involved in crypto culture, and specifically Ethereum. Properties of censorship resistance, decentralized coordination and zero knowlege privacy were prevalent. It was discussed if and how Ethereum had continued that philosophical soundness from when we entered the space, and what the community could do in the future to ensure the values remain centered and not coopted by the hyper-financialized aspects of crypto.
