Workshop - Who weaves the weavers?, SeoulBound, Seoul, Korea, 2023
During the opening conversation at SeoulBound (potentially the first true Ethereum Localism event), there were many in attendance that identified as ‘weavers’. So a salon session was formed to discuss the topic of how these weavers could best support each others’ activity.
The weavers identified that they’re often the only one in a community doing the weaving, which can feel lonely. Also that the work of weaving is not usually financially supported, leaving it to only emerge from altruistic individuals who call fully envision its impact on diverse communities. It was discussed how to financially sustain the activity of bringing people together and synthesizing common notions. One interesting idea was the potential to form partnerships with impact capital, getting funding for weaving events while sharing the impactful potential projects that emerge with the impact investment groups.
